Welcome to the Barbados Wildlife Reserve and
Grenade Hall website.
This
natural mahogany forest has been enclosed to provide a free-range
home to a variety of exotic animals,
reptiles and birds. Visitors can walk freely with animals that are threatened
with extinction such as the Cuban Rock
Iguanas and photograph rehabilitated wild birds such as
the Brown Pelicans. The highlight
of any visit at the Reserve is most certainly an encounter
with the Barbados Green Monkey.
No day is like any other when you visit the Barbados Wildlife
Reserve. You are privileged to enter a natural environment
where your behavior has a direct impact on your experience.
These animals are not tame and will be frightened away by
noise and unexpected movement. Walk respectfully through the
shady paths, sit and contemplate a grazing Brocket
Deer and bring plenty of film – you never know what
you may meet around the next tree!
Warning!
All the animals at the Barbados Wildlife Reserve are
wild. They will defend themselves if threatened or provoked.
Keep your distance at all times and resist the temptation
to feed or touch them. Read all signs and exercise caution.
